Media walls, built-ins, home offices, and kitchens — designed with you and built by hand, across Jefferson County and beyond.
There are no wrong answers — not sure yet? We'll walk through it together.
Custom, not off-the-shelf
Every project starts with your ideas and Austin's designs. Whether you bring your own plans or need help bringing your vision to life, we create custom cabinetry tailored to your space, style, and needs.
Make every inch count. Get storage designed around the way you live, with personal service from design through installation.
What we build
A hands-on custom shop where the range is wide and the work stays personal. Some of the pieces we build most:
Floor-to-ceiling entertainment centers and display walls — open shelving, cabinets, and linear fireplaces built in as one clean run.
Desks, shelving, and cabinetry built into the room, styled for books and work and everything in between.
Shaker cabinets, islands, pantries, and shop-built wood range hoods — sized to your kitchen, not a catalog.
Tall floor-to-ceiling wardrobes, pantries, and linen built-ins with the hardware and finish you choose.
Solid-wood floating shelves, coffee and beverage nooks, and tops in solid wood like oak, maple, cherry, and walnut that warm up a room.
Have something in mind that doesn't fit a category? Bring it — most of the best projects start that way.

Meet your builder
“When you reach out, you're talking straight to me — the person who designs your project and sees it through, with a crew to help build and install.”
Hi, I'm Austin. I design and build custom cabinets and built-ins out of my shop in the Birmingham area — media walls, floor-to-ceiling shelving, home offices, kitchens, and one-of-a-kind pieces made to fit your space and how you actually live. I've got a skilled crew who work alongside me on the build and install, so bigger jobs like full kitchens move at a steady, dependable pace.
There are no wrong answers. Tell me what you're picturing — or that you're not sure yet — and we'll figure out the rest together. You get the personal attention of working directly with your builder from first sketch to final walk-through, plus the hands to get it done right and on time.
— Austin Vaughn, AVWoodworks
How it works
From the first message to the final walk-through, here's how a project usually goes.
Tell us about the space and what you're picturing. Not sure yet? That's fine — we'll help you decide.
We work out the layout, materials, and finish together, then put a clear, no-surprise quote in front of you.
Your cabinets are built by hand in the shop, made to your measurements and your choices.
We set everything in place, fit it clean, and don't leave until you're happy with how it looks.
Design online
Pick what you're building, add a few photos and rough measurements, and lay out your cabinets with our design assistant. It's a rough sketch, not a commitment. Austin turns it into a finished design and gets back to you.
Builders and cabinet shops: send plans or a cut list for a bid.
Where we work
Based in the Birmingham, Alabama area and building throughout all of Jefferson County and the counties around it — from Jasper and Cullman up north to Smith Lake, and down to Pelham and beyond. If your town is nearby and not on the list, reach out — we likely cover it.
B2B — for other cabinet shops
We partner with other cabinet shops — supplying custom cabinet parts and taking on shared work. Our industrial CNC turns out components to strict, repeatable tolerances, on a schedule you can plan around.
More on the books than your shop can finish on time? We'll take on the parts you can't get to, so you still hit your deadlines.
Down a set of hands? We can fill the gap and keep your production moving without missing a beat.
Machine failure holding up a run? Send us the cut list and we'll produce the parts you need to stay on track.
Industrial CNC capacity for custom cabinet components held to strict tolerances — clean, consistent, and ready to install.
Whether it's a one-off run or an ongoing arrangement, send over your cut list and we'll take it from there.
